ABOUT
I am an artist with a background as craftsperson. Born in Germany I now live and work in Turku and Helsinki, Finland. I completed an apprenticeship as stonemason in Nürnberg Germany (1999), hold a Meisterschüler title of sculpture from the Akademie der Bildenden Künste Nürnberg (2005) and graduated as Master of Fine Arts (2008) from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts. Additionally I have studied pedagogy (2015) at the Faculty of Education at the University of Turku, Finland. Currently (2021–2025) I am a Doctoral candidate (Doctor of Fine Arts) at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of the Arts Helsinki. Besides doing my doctoral research, I serve as Lecturer in Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts University of the Arts Helsinki.
My doctoral research topic is Allegory for Pedagogy, Sculpture as an Educational Tool? and seeks to find out on an educational element in sculpture. Whilst this element is most likely not one element, more like an apparatus of elements, something like an educational dispositif. My internal supervisor for this research project is Maiju Loukola and my external supervisor is Gert Biesta.
