FRANK BRÜMMEL
I am an artist and educator with a background as craftsman. Born in Germany I now live and work in Turku on the southwestern coast of Finland. I completed a professional apprenticeship as stonemason in Nürnberg Germany, hold a Meisterschüler title of sculpture from the Akademie der Bildenden Künste Nürnberg and graduated as Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts. Additionally I have studied pedagogy at the Faculty of Education at the University of Turku, Finland. Currently I am a Doctoral candidate at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of the Arts Helsinki.
My works have been shown in venues including Kunsthalle Helsinki, Opelvillen Rüsselsheim, Lothringer13 München, Hämeenlinna Artmuseum, Jyväskylä Artmuseum, Huuto Gallery, Titanik Gallery and Mänttä Art Festival.
As a member of the Speechkaraoke Action Group in Helsinki Festival, Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art, Vooruit in Ghent, Kanuti Gildi Saal in Tallinn, at Helsinki International Filmfestival and Rotterdam International Filmfestival and in other art museums around Finland.
Since 2010 I kept lectures and courses at the University of the Arts – Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki. In 2014 I was appointed for a 5-years post as lecturer at the sculpture department of the Finnish Academy Of Fine Arts, University Of The Arts Helsinki. In 2015 I had a 1-year working grant by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland.
In 2018/2019 I worked for one academic year as deputy Professor in sculpture and Head of department, at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of the Arts Helsinki. Currently I serve on a tenure track position as Lecturer in Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts University of the Arts Helsinki.
